What to Expect When Planning Your Special Event

We are delighted that you have considered hosting your event with The Grand 1401.  We look forward to planning a very special day for you. After you have had a chance to review these guidelines, we would be pleased to set up a time to meet with you and finalize your event decisions.

The Grand has two beautiful and unique ballrooms that will make the perfect setting for your event.

The Grand Ballroom

The Grand Ballroom is located on the first floor and has a capacity of 550 people including the mezzanine level.

The Grand on 10 ballroom is located on the 10th floor and has a maximum capacity of 275 people.

Your room rental includes 200 chairs and 20 round tables, additional guests can be accommodated through The Grand 1401 at an additional fee.

Events have a 6 hour maximum from start time to end time.

All events must conclude by midnight. All pricing subject to change.  Additional fees may be applicable to premium dates and major holidays.

  • A minimum reservation deposit, equal to fifty percent (50%) of the total room fee, is required to confirm the requested function date.
  • The entire deposit amount will be credited toward the bill at the conclusion of the function.
  • The reservation deposit is NON-Refundable. 
  • In addition to the reservation deposit, a damage deposit of $500 in either a credit card guarantee or a check is required. Following your event, The Grand 1401 will perform an inspection of the event venue and your deposit will be returned to you less the repair costs, if any.

Final payment is due 5 business days prior to your event date. We accept payment by Visa, Master Card, Discover, cash or check*
*Returned checks are subject to a $25.00 returned check fee.

The facility rental fee covers up to 5 hours of load-in/set up prior to the event start time.  If additional load-in/set-up time is required, additional time can be scheduled at the rate of $50.00 per hour.  If a load-in/set-up day is required, the charge is $250.00 provided that the space is available.

The facility rental fee covers up to 1 hour for load-out/tear down after your event end time.  If additional load-out/tear-down time is required, a fee of $50.00 per hour will apply.  Any load-out/tear-down after midnight incurs overtime charges of $100.00 per hour or any fraction thereof.  If a load-out/tear-down day is required, the charge is $250.00 provided that space is available.  All times must be pre-approved by The Grand 1401 management 10 days in advance of scheduled event.

Please advise your vendors that all equipment that cannot be carried must be brought in on dollies or carts.  To prevent floor damage, items are not to be dragged across the floor of either ballroom.

All trash must be removed from the ballroom at the conclusion of the event.  All equipment and rentals must also be removed at the conclusion of your event, unless an additional tear-down day has been scheduled in advance.  It is the responsibility of the client to inform all vendors of this policy. 

Grand Ballroom: All deliveries shall be made through the loading area located at the back of the building.

Grand on 10: There is short term loading located curbside at the main entrance for The Grand 1401. All items going to the 10th floor must be able to fit in a standard elevator. Please work with your event specialist for special requests and to arrange load in and load out times.

Your choice of one of our preferred caterers will make each dining experience special and memorable. Menus feature a wide variety of popular gourmet selections made from the finest ingredients and can be customized to please the most discriminating palate. Treat your guests to an unforgettable catered event.

All alcohol must be provided and served by your preferred caterer. If the preferred caterer does not have an alcohol license, alcohol service may be contracted through an approved service. Our experienced event staff are here to help you through every step.
The Grand 1401 adheres to the city and County of Fresno liquor laws. Please advise your guests that age verification will be asked by Catering, Security and or The Grand 1401 staff.

The confirmed number of guests must be specified 10 business days in advance of your event. It is the responsibility of the host to contact The Grand 1401 events department with the specific number of guests for all functions. If The Grand 1401 does not receive a guaranteed count, then the number of guests listed on the original event form will be used as the guaranteed number.

The parking facilities for The Grand 1401 are located around the building. Parking is on a first come first serve basis and is not guaranteed. Valet parking can be arranged. Please work with your event specialist at The Grand 1401.

Security is required for all events. Security will be charged at a rate of $25 per hour with a 4-hour minimum, and must be present for the duration of the event. This charge will be included on your final bill. The Grand 1401 security policy is 2 guards for the first 100 guests and an additional security guard per each additional 100 guests or portion thereof. Security is subject to a service charge. There are an additional 2 guards per 100 guests for events with guests primarily consisting of minor children (Under 18).

An 18% Service Charge will be added to any additional room rental items. Room rental items include additional tables & chairs, audio, visual, security, linen, misc rentals and valet. These items are subject to change periodically.

The Grand 1401 is able to accommodate ceremonies for up to 200 people. There is a $3.25 per person charge to hold a ceremony at The Grand 1401.

All audio/visual/staging must be booked through The Grand 1401.  Please contact our event specialists for more information.

The Grand requires the Client obtain a policy of insurance for their event and provide a certificate of additionally insured to The Grand prior to your event. Our helpful staff can direct you in obtaining insurance coverage for your event.

  • The Grand 1401 will provide the physical set-up of all tables and chairs rented by The Grand 1401. Any rental items not provided by The Grand 1401 are the set-up and tear down responsibility of the client.
  • Candles are allowed in the Grand Ballroom if they are in enclosed in hurricane glasses, votives or other enclosures.
  • No tape, staples, nails or hooks are to be used on the walls, beams or ceilings.
  • No tape on the floors of the ballrooms. Wires must be covered by mats or cord covers. Gaffers tape is the only exception to this rule.
  • No confetti, rice, glitter or rose petals in either ballroom.
  • All floral arrangements and entertainment are the responsibility of the guest.
  • Please be sure that all hired vendors are in compliance with the policies written in this document, as you will be held liable. Proof of liability insurance may be required from your hired vendors.
  •  The Grand 1401 is not responsible for damage or loss of equipment or property belonging to clients and/or their guests.
  • The Grand 1401 is not responsible for any damage or loss to vehicles in official or unofficial Grand 1401 parking lots.
  • You are financially responsible for any additional table and chair or other rentals above and beyond the 200 included in your room rental. The Grand 1401 will be happy to arrange the additional rental items for you. These items will be subject to service charges.
  •  For the safety of our guests, firecrackers and pyrotechnics are prohibited on The Grand 1401 property.
  • The Grand 1401 complies with the city’s “no smoking” ordinance, smoking is not allowed in any part of The Grand 1401 building.
  • The Grand 1401 reserves the right to monitor the noise level of all events with entertainment, all live bands, discos, and dj’s.
  • Entertainers must provide their own sound systems (amplifiers, mixers, microphones, microphone stands, etc). The Grand 1401 may provide these items from an outside vendor if needed at an additional charge.

The Grand 1401 reserves the right to modify or amend these guidelines and policies as necessary to ensure the integrity of all events. You will be notified in writing if these policies change after you have booked your event.
